Travelling Canadian Rockies in April

We are contemplating travelling via the Trans-Canada Highway from Manitoba to Vancouver Island departing mid April and returning late April to attend a week long event on the Island, in our 40' QSDP towing a Jeep Liberty.
We have some reservations about travelling at that time of year due to potential unpredictable weather/driving conditions, particularly while crossing the Rocky Mountains, as well as availability of campsites and services along the way.
Based on your first-hand experience and knowledge, your considered feedback and advice will be much appreciated! Is this plan prudent? Are there other factors we should be considering? Are there other practical perhaps less "risky" alternative routes? Etc.
We are looking forward to your thoughts on this subject! Thanks!!

Once you get on the West Side of the Big Rock, you should see good weather and not too much problem finding CG's.
East of there is another story. Pay real good attention to weather forecasts as that time of year is prone to major snow storms and even road closures through the Rogers Pass.

Here is a link for Drive B.C. and BC Ferries (be sure to reserve)
Mid-April should not be an issue, even in AB/SK
If you need any Island suggestions email me brian-nicola@shaw.ca

Smile Travelling Canadian Rockies in April

Hi, I am not sure about Man. But Sask should be no problem. I believe there is a campground in Moose Jaw right on the highway that is available year round. Lethbridge, Bridgeview is open year round. I would travel highway 3 a little slower but usually good roads. Christina Pines has a motel/campground that is easy access off the highway , sunshine valley is open year round just before Hope. Clear sailing from there to the ferry. I am going out there end of April for the summer. Hope this helps a bit. Enjoy the trip.
