Trip from Carlsbad NM, to Augusta, GA, to Knoxville TN and return to NM

Planning a trip to these cities and wondering about best routes and ways to find good campgrounds along the way. Figuring on using I-20 to Augusta, then up to Charlotte, NC and on to Knowvills then back west on I-40, I-30, and I-20 thru TX. Any comment on roughly these routes, potential hidden "gems" of campgrounds, and reasonably good golf courses along these routes would be much appreciated.

We will be traveeing in a Monaco Windsor at 40' length towing a toad.
