Trying to avoid I95 Hendersonville, NC to Gainesville, FL

We travelled the opposite direction in May on our maiden voyage with our first ever RV, 38' Tiffin Phaeton and toad. 95 was a nightmare and the last leg of I26 was challenging (we went on to Washington state and are now on our way back to Sarasota, FL to winter, can proudly say we're beyond the "newbie" stage ) We've come to enjoy state Hwys and avoid Interstates when possible, so here's where we need advice:

We'll probably take 26 to Spartanburg, SC. From there it looks like the choices are either US 301 / US 25 or US Hwy 1 / US 221. Anyone have experience with these routes? They're both about 8hrs/415 miles. Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance!

US 321 is a good option too. Not much traffic and many 4 lane sections. We do it all the time going to Tampa from Hickory. We avoid Interstates if at all possible.

I'm familiar with those routes in SC, and they're probably both pretty similar. Looks like the both go through lots of small towns and rural country in GA also. Don't know that I could recommend one route over another. They look about the same.

You mention US25. We take US25 from Augusta to I16 quite often. It is a piece of cake in our 38'DP with toad. Make sure you take the bypass around Statesboro, it is about a 6 mile trek with 3 or 4 stop lights and virtually no businesses along that route. I am considering taking 301 all the way to Gainesville next April to pick up I75, but will wait to make that decision. We also have taken I95 from Savanah all the way to Miami and although a lot of traffic, we stay in the right lane and have no problem (just stay off the main part of the race track).

Avoid I26 from Newberry to I95. Lots of construction which is going to get a lot worse when the I26 & I20 spaghetti junction goes through a major rebuild for the next two years. 26 is only 2 lanes for most of the run to 95 with small sections of 3 lane completed. 26 is a bad mixture of left lane speedsters doing over 80 and slow truck traffic going up the long hills. 95 as you approach the Georgia line regularly backs up. Expect long delays. The I95 & I16 interchange is all torn up with construction. Weaving lanes with concrete Jersey barriers is no fun.
