Upcoming trip to Maine

I am planning a trip to Maine from eastern North Carolina starting mid September. I have had a couple of routes planned for me but I am not sure that I want to travel that close to New York City. I will be driving a 35ft class A and towing a vehicle. Does anyone have a recommendation as to a good route? Thanks

Maine Routes

Don't know if you want to see more of New England or if Maine is your only destination?
But that route will take you directly there and you will avoid the Washington, DC, Baltimore, and New York City. Plus lots of tolls $$$.
If you have other area's your interested in let us know, you will get lots of good recommendations.

Any way but the George Washington Bridge.

Tappan Zee is okay. Tolls one way (northbound only)
