The road is fine to drive and frankly not all that lonely. You didn’t say when. We went in May dealt with a great deal of snow and it was not fun. Just check the weather.

Nice drive ,as everyone said not so lonely,but still a lot of nothing except western landscape. Fuel while available isn't even a concern... The DS fuel on board will take you across the state and then some. Have a safe trip, we did it 3 years ago and enjoyed the day.

If you want lonely drive one of the roads that feed into 50. One of the open range roads. They make 50 look hectic.

Love 50. Must have done the whole thing in bits & pieces. Ocean City, MD to Sacramento, CA.
