Valley View OR to La Pine OR via OR-31... Recommended Stop(s)?

Good morning,

We're travelling from Susanville, CA to Crescent, OR later this month. Per the Motor Carriers' Road Atlas, OR-31 is STAA-authorized. We've never driven the route, so it'll be an opportunity to see some new landscape. Any recommendations for a lunch stop that'll accommodate a 53-ish foot rig? Anything else that warrants a stop? Nothing is jumping out at me (yet) looking at Google Maps.

Many thanks in advance!

- Ken

Not much on that section of highway. Lakeview is pretty much it for any and everything. You'll come out onto HWY 97, below La Pine. I'm assuming you have been to Crescent before so are aware of fuel locations, etc?

10-4. We'll top off at the Chimney Rock Travel Center about five miles north of Alturas, CA. Pro tip: considerably less expensive fuel (with RV/truck lanes and high-flow pumps) than in Alturas proper if you're travelling US-395.

We'll top off again at Gordy's Truck Stop in La Pine before heading north on US-97 the following day.

Thanks to twogypsies' suggestion, we'll likely stop at Fort Rock State Park. Lunch there or, if we're feeling lazy, at the Lodge at Summer Lake.

Thank you!
