Virginia to Finger Lakes NY area

Will be traveling soon from Fredericksburg VA area to Prattsburg NY in 38’ DP. Any recommendations or advice on the best routes? TIA

I avoid I95 in Wash DC area like the plague.
I would rather take a longer route to I81 to Harrisburg, then 22 to Rt 15.
You can take 15 N to Williamsport but I prefer Rt 11 short ways to 147 to I180 to Williamsport. A short section of 2 lane then interstate to Wport. A little more miles but most better roads.

Ditto on 81… I run that route all the time from New England it’s a little longer but worth the trip. 17 out of Fredericksburg to 81. Depending on where you’re going you can run it all the way to Syracuse.
