I’d just go 80 to 99 and go in from Modesto. Pulling that trailer you might as well make it easy on yourself. All the other routes are more interesting, but 38’ is enough of a load that I’d stick with 80. But try to avoid Sundays or the end of holiday weekends going west bound. It gets ugly between truckee and Auburn.

What he said. I wouldn't want to pull a 38' TT over any of those other routes. US50 from Lake Tahoe to Sacramento is a decent road though except for 5 miles or so of 5-7% grades.

80 to 99 is probably the easiest. Jut make sure you take the New Priest Grade going into Groveland. You do not want to take Old Priest Grade. I had a rental car that I took up Old Priest...it didn't like it, never shifted quite right after that hill.

Definitely - the old priest grade is for enthusiasts in sports cars, not trucks and RV’s. I remember my Dad burning up his brakes in the late 60’s coming down that in his ‘66 Caprice. Had to run the stop sign at the bottom of the hill. It would really suck trying to drag a 38’ trailer up it.
