West coast of Florida ?

We are currently in Seffner Florida picking up a new rig and when we leave would like to head down the west coast of Florida for 2 reasons.
#1 and most important to see it.
#2 put some miles on and use the new MH before heading back north so if (LOL) anything pops up that needs repair we can stop back at the dealer before moving on.

This is our first Florida trip so are there any good suggestions from Tampa south? We don't want $150 per night RV spots but don't want tight and non scenic either.
We have heard people talk about Naples but how much farther south can you go safely in a 42' MH and toad? We would probably want to spend 3 or 4 weeks before heading back north, or more. We have no time frame.

I live in Florida and have enjoyed camping on West Coast south of Tampa.

South on I-75 to the Sarasota area there is a campground near 75 I think the name was Sun n Fun, real nice. I wouldn't stay at the one on Homes Island.

Get your map out or Google maps and from the campground go through Sarasota and out to the coast line road that goes all the way up through the islands "north" to Anna Maria Island stopping along the way.

Plenty to do there with good restaurants and sight seeing. Near Sarasota and the coast line is St. Armand's Circle where there is high end shopping and dining "a must see".

I think you will enjoy the entire area from Sarasota to Anna Maria Island.

I agree with using RVparkrevies.com as a source for your trip. The Fort Myers area might be a good destination for you. It has several nice places (e.g. Riverbend in LaBelle, Gulf Waters in Ft Myers), and you can see Naples, Sanibel, and enjoy the area in your toad.

Hi HDrider,
You can safely go all the way to Key West. As long as you are down here, consider heading down to the Keys. Stay at mile marker 39 Sunshine Key Resort. Go to Sunshine Key RV Resort & Marina | Encore RV Resort in Florida Keys . This will get some miles on the coach. You'll be there in the off season, so rates are low. There are many things to do in the area.

Congrats on the new coach. You have many happy memories ahead of you.

Just remember.. At this time of year, the snowbirds will be taking up a lot of "spaces", so call ahead to see if there are vacancies.

Go to Everglades Isles. About $80-90 a night but great place. Can do air boat rides, drive and see lots of gators, boat tours and lots of wildlife. Just take groceries. Nearest big town is Naples 40 miles away. We stayed a week and loved it. Will go back.
