Western Texas I10 and I20

How often will I be able to get Diesel fron San Antonio to La Cruses on I10 and I20 (going on I10 coming back on I20)? The map looks pretty desolate. Should I invest in a sat phone or is wifi any good? What about firearm protection?

As often as you want. Lots of truck stops and small towns along the way. Its a boring drive and a long way. 85 mph speed limit in some areas.
Drove that trip many times in a truck. Enjoy and be safe

There are plenty of Truck stops along I-20 > I-10. I just looked at the Pilot / Flying J app.

It won't do MACH 2, but I can get a sandwich and take a pee.

Can't say about the phone as never worried about it. As to firearm, I don't carry one as 20plus years in the military was enough firearms for me. Never needed one and another thing I don't worry about .
Be safe and aware of where you are and you will be fine.

We did that trip in March/April only in opposite order. Not a bit of problem with fuel or coverage.

Driven both in last 6 months. Both good and plenty of fuel. I10 is more picturesque for the first few hours west of SA but them itís pretty much flat west Texas on either interstate. No firearm necessary but good bbq at almost every town exit.

I agree with the others, expect at least a medium to large size truck stop with diesel every 30-40 miles, just don't expect large grocery stores, etc. Just look at the Fort Stockton Wal-Mart as an example, it is the only Wal-Mart on I-10 within at least 150 miles, maybe 250 (there are others within 50-60 miles which are not on I-10), and it is one of the smallest Wal-Mart supercenters I have ever seen .
