What to see on 26 in SC

We will be traveling from Southern In. to Myrtle Beach in a couple of weeks, not in the coach this trip.
Where is a good place to stop for the night and see something or eat something fun around Columbia or so. No kids with us so good bars are in the mix too.

Lots of places to eat and drink in the Vista which is in downtown Columbia on Gervais street(among others). Another good place is Five Points. Keep in mind Columbia is a college town ( Or at least they tell me USC is a university. Clemson fan here).

Several hotels in the Harbison area which when you come into Columbia is the first major shopping area with some traditional chain restaurants. This is before I26 intersects with I20.
