What Trip Planner Do You Use? Why?
I'm trying to decide between RV Trip Wizard, Allstays Pro, or some other app that I have not yet heard of (suggestions?). How do these compare? Which one do you like? I want to be able to locate Thousand Trails/Encore sites, Corp of Engineers, State/National Parks, Passport America, Boondockers Welcome, etc. If the route could be customized for my RV dimensions and exported to my GPS, that would be icing on the cake. I am tired of flipping back and forth from PA to BW to TT to Google Maps. Any help is greatly appreciated!

back in the day we would normally just pick a direction and a highway and wing it from there. never had a problem finding sites or things to see and do. we would call it the 'anarchists vacation'. lots of fun. hard to do that these days. I like the RV Parky app and the RV Park Reviews app/website.

Are you looking for campgrounds or do you want to create a trip?
Allstays cannot create a trip. It will find the type of campground you are looking for.
RVTW will create a trip and you can copy it to your GPS but the problem is that when you copy the trip to the GPS the GPS will recalculate and do its own thing, which isn't where/how you want to go.
There are numerous filters in RVTW and you can put in your rigs dimensions etc. A new release just came out and we are working our way through its "newness". RVTW, as it matures, will probably be the "go to" product. Its sister products are IRV2.com and camprgroundreviews.com(which is integrated into RVTW). From my viewpoint that is reason enough to use RVTW.
The only solution I have hear to this is to copy the trip to Basecamp and then to your GPS(assuming Garmin).
Allstays basic is free. RVTW from the start costs $$. RVTW has a learning curve since it does so much more than Allstays.
There is no one perfect solution, we all stuggle with this problem.
I use RVTW and fill in with other databases.

Thanks. That is what I would like to do. Why is it harder now?

I use RV Parky app. It works on all devices and is Free. You can also share your trip with others. There is an upload option to your Garmin, etc. but I have not tried it. It is very simular to RV Trip Wizard but FREE!

Rvparky doesn't have enough filters for the OP.

because there are a lot more RVs of all kinds chasing fewer and fewer campsites. if you're not picky....hookups or no hookups, trees, no trees, RV sites packed like sardines in privately owned parks or wide open natl forest spots...then you can likely do as we used to do. it helps if you do this during off-season, spring or fall (we would usually take the month of september off). when you don't have to worry or fret about being somewhere before they close or having to checkout but finding out about a neat place to see that you missed the RV thing becomes more like it was meant to be. these days we're both pushing 70, the wife has mobility issues and we like our creature comforts so we look for FHU parks with clear skies. we still try to see something new on each trip.

... and that's why you think it's harder.... you want full hookups.
Like you said, if you're not particular you can just meander and find a nice spot without all the constant planning & reservations.

Basecamp & Garmin RV770. Waypoints such as COE & Passport America can be downloaded from internet & saved in Basecamp. Trip planning can then be done on the road without internet access.

Garmin RV770, BaseCamp v4.6.2, Google Earth, CampgroundReviews.com and sometimes GoodSam.com.
BaseCamp because it uses the same maps as the RV770.

For longer trips, I use Microsoft Streets & Trips 2013. Although the software is no longer supported or updated, it allows me to get most of the particulars. Then I use the Interweb and telephone to determine the details.

I still love paper maps!
I tend to favor the old state and US routes so I usually look at a 1957 road atlas first to get an idea of where I want to go. I then enter the towns along the route as waypoints and let the GPS work out the route along with the clearances and weight avoidance's.

Paper maps are another tool in the aresenal. I use them as a backup plus to give an overall picture.
