White Mountains to Albany

This summer we are staying near the White Mountains (Lincoln) in New Hampshire. Then need to head home picking up I 90 around Albany. I've done the route all the way down to I 90 in Massachusetts but wondering if there is a shorter route that doesn't involve too much up and down and not as many tolls. Could I drop down to Concord and take 202, then 9 and 7 across NH and VT? I've driven that route in just a car but not towing. Or maybe straight west from Lincoln and pick up I 91 and then take 9 and 7 at Brattleboro? Maybe not worth the hassle?

I've done everything except 112/116 Lincoln to I-91 but it's only about 40 miles; how bad can it be? From there to Brattleboro/Bennington/Troy/Albany is a nice ride in my opinion. They've done some work on 7 from Brattleboro to Bennington (more needed) but it's not bad.
