Williams Az to Redlands Ca

I am pulling a 5th wheel from Williams Az to the Redlands Ca area tomorrow.

I normally take I-40 to Barstow and then south on I-15 to the 215.

There is another route that might be 15 minutes shorter for a car, anyway. It is I-40 west to Hwy 95 south to I-10 west. Is that route safe and smooth for a 5th wheel? Or should I stay on my normal route?

The last time I drove that route, years ago the road was fine. Iirc there were no services for a good stretch. Hopefully someone will chime in with more recent info.

Another option is CA-247 (2-lanes undivided highway) south from Barstow to Yucca Valley then CA-62 (4-lanes divided highway) to I-10, which has less grade and relatively little traffic Did that in early February pulling a 15,000 lb fifth wheel trailer from Palm Desert to Bakersfield.
