Ca99 to ca41 north

No big deal.

There are a couple lights but setting gps gives heads up on turn

The streets inside the village can be tricky so gps is almost a must.

We have been there many times, leaving from OC, heading up 99. Do not take Hwy 49 all the way up. Stay on 99 and take 132 out of Modesto through La Grange then at Coulterville, take Greeley Hill Rd then J20, Smith Station Rd to 120. Hwy 49 is really windy if you follow Google directions. Also, hwy 120 up from Moccasin to Groveland (Priest Grade) is steep and windy. Smith Station is a better way. Good luck, and have fun. Hope there is water in the river!

NO... from Bakersfield to Yosemite lakes you take 99 to 41.

Yosemite lakes park is a residential area between Fresno and Oakhurst south of Coarsegold on sr41 ...YNP is further up 41 just a bit.

YNP is closer sort of to Merced by just a few miles but Merced is 70 miles north of fresno and Modesto 40 or so miles north of that.

From south easy path is 99 to 41

49 is the golden chain highway from Oakhurst up towards sonoma and beyond but it is a bit twisted but generally good road and if one wants a nice drive in the hills it would be a good scenic drive.

In Oakhurst at 49 and 41 is Petes drive in where the burgers and other eats are great.
