We've got a 2016 F350 Dually with 3.73 gears, towing a 2018 Cedar Creek 36CK2 (40ft, 14,000lbs loaded for travel). I usually get right at 10mpg while driving at 68 on the cruise control. We're on a 30 day trip right now (sitting in the snow in Flagstaff) and our milage has varied quite a bit. When traveling across Texas from Dallas to Palo Duro Canyon, we only averaged 7.4mpg. Even though the road is flat and straight, we were driving into a 27mph headwind the entire way. Then on our leg from Albuquerque to Flagstaff, we averaged 11mpg. I seldom travel above 70mph when towing.

2017 dually here, with almost 70K miles. The easy answer: depends 100% on the regens! And with the 2017 you can NOT determine if and when a regen is happening except to watch closely at the temp on EGT4 - if over 1000 degF then you are definitely doing a regen and then it depends on how long the regen lasts. I remember once calculating MPG with a fresh load, and by accident all indications were over 20 MPG not towing! Then the first regen hit and I was down to a normal 12 - 15 MPG NOT TOW. What I think is amazing is that with this 2017 the fuel economy has definitely decreased dramatically, whereas on all my previous diesels it always increased! My 5th wheel is 14.5K lb and it's rare, only with a tailwind, do I do better than 10 MPG overall while towing. If it were not for the 50 gal fuel tank, I would have kept my 125 gal aux tank and had the "advantage" of hauling all that extra fuel when all the tanks are full - really had no choice when towing in Canada with their outrageous fuel prices.
