We had a 17 F350 dually diesel. We pulled a 16,500 Excel fifth wheel with it. We did a number of trips out west and many times would hit some strong head winds. 8 mpg was about the best I could manage. Under more normal conditions we would get around 10.

Very vague question, with next to nothing details about truck or trailer.

Gas or diesel?
gear ratio of the truck
2WD or 4 WD
10 speed or 6 speed transmission (I don't remember which year the 10 speed came out for that truck)
Speed driven when towing?
Approx. wind speed........"strong" doesn't describe anything

Trailer: height, weight of 5ver
Flat terrain or mountains/hills

Lots of variable as you can see.....give some details and you may get a better answer to that question!

Milage

We have a 17 F350 with 4:10 gears. The trailer weight is 22K. We only see 8-8.5 MPG at 60-62 MPH

I had a 2012 F-450 with 4:30 gears and 6 speed. Towing a 16,000lb 5th wheel with a tailwind I would get 11 mpg. No wind 10.3mpg. Into a headwind 9 mpg.

2012 F350 DRW diesel with 3.73 gears pulling a 19,000 LB 5er. We run 62 to 65 MPH and get about 9 MPG on the flats, no wind. Strong head or quartering wind 7 MPG. Tailwind maybe 10 to 11 mpg.

I've got a 17 F350 Platinum diesel dually with the 3:55 rear end, towing a 34 ft 5th wheel, weighing 18.5K lbs, & combined weight of 28.3K lbs. I get I get about 8.5mpg in a good head wind, & around 11mpg overall average, when towing.
