My coach has about a 30 ft hard wired 50 amp cord, I have both a 25 ft 30 amp extension and a 30 foot 50 amp extension. I rarely bother carrying the 50 amp, it is just too heavy to mess with. By contrast we we are just stopping for one night on the road, I will often pull out the 30 amp and don't bother pulling out heavy 50 amp hard wired cord. It is just so much lighter and easier to handle the 30 amp cord.
Like the others when I have needed an extension it tends to be 30 amp, like last weekend at a COE campground where the 30 amp only power post was on the wrong side of the site. Worse yet was the water situation at this park which had a common water hookup shared between each site, the nearest one being about 50-60 feet from our water connection, I might have had enough hoses to reach, but I would not bet on it, I carry 3 fresh water hoses, a pair white of 25 ft hoses and a 10 foot heavy duty blue Camco hose, which is the only I normally use at most campgrounds along with a small free standing water filter with a 6 foot connector hose..
