Best combination I had with my 43' toy hauler was a 5th Airborne pin box on the 5th wheel and firestone air bags on the truck, on my F350 DRW It almost eliminated the chucking and bucking. Only on the worst bridge abutments di we get any chucking. The F350 probably didn't have to have the air bags but my pin weight was near 4K and I liked having the truck at normal level and no high beams flashing at me. I think they also worked in harmony with the 5th Airborne. There is a learning curve on how much air pressure works best.

I wish the Trailair Tri Glide was still in production. I liked it's design.

I've been running a Trail-air pin box for 12 years now and never regretted it. The first 2 years before swapping the pin box on my Cedar Creek were some of the roughest rides.

You can buy it right on that link site. Also inquire at some of the larger RV dealers in your area. They can order it in. It is important to know the current pin-box you have as they make different models to match up[ with the bolt holes and frame angle of each 5th trailer out there.
It is fairly easy to swap out your pin box with a friend or 2 to help. I had a forklift to keep it steady as I was by myself. You need some large sockets, and a torque wrench. Took me about 1- 1/2 hours to make sure I had everything lined up and tighten down to spec.

Back to what Tillerman7 was asking (sorry I hijacked this, BTW), I think someone needs to do an actual independent, controlled study on these units. I'd like to know which unit performs better at handling a predetermined force in each direction. I know some claim "up to 60% reduction" in chucking, but that means nothing. Heck, 0% is technically within the range of "up to 60%."
I would bet the reason none of them directly compare themselves to any of the others is because they all have faults of some sort. Each lacks something the others have. I suppose the bottom line is this... You'll have to buy something and hope it improves whatever you're looking to improve.

I am not sure where I have seen this, but in this web forum or maybe another, there has been much talk of these tri-glides and weld failures that forced the manufacturer to stop producing these units. That forum where the information was posted had many pictures of failed welds along the 3 rollers at the bottom of your picture. The failures have been recent (this year). I have no personal knowledge of failures other than what I am reporting to you. There has been talk of recalls and people filing complaints with NTSB regarding failures of this design.

Lippert went away from the triglide as they had a few problems with them. The 3 pins at the back were letting go. They now have the Flex air which is a better Hitch with less moving parts they combined the triglide air bag and shock with the rotoflex rubber damper on the pin plate. Contact Lippert and they are around 1200.oo
