5th Wheel & Truck "The Great Cover Up"!

Hi Guys,

I have a Ford F-350 Short Bed on order and need a cover. I've narrowed the field to... (I defiantly want a soft cover)!

Truxedo Trucksport roll up $309.99
Access Cover $594.90
Gator SR1 Roll Up Tonneau Cover $289.00

Do you have one of the above or any special something I should look for in the Great-cover-up?

Thanks guys

The Revolution had been discontinued. What they have now, when completely folded, covers the rear window and is a deal breaker for me.

Whichever one you chose, make sure to check for interference between any rails that need to be installed for the cover and the king pin assembly. The way ours is configured, any rails inside the bed would interfere with the king pin in a hard turn - had to find a three section fold up that doesn't need rails.

I have an Extang roll up for a bed tool box. Works great, looks great. Keeps my hitch clean and no problems with clearance.

Thanks guys, I never thought of the rails being able to hit the fifth wheel? What a bummer that would be. I’ll ask the company before a purchase.

I've used an Extang Trifecta Tri Folding Cover going on year 7.

No interference, but I have an Anderson Ultimate hitch.
When folded, the height above the bed rails is + 4" so when making a sharp turn, be aware of your bed rail clearance.

Had Extang rollup and it was good except in winter when you had to put it back on
Now have a Gator Tri-fold much better.
No clearance problems with either one

I’ve found this to be an interesting subject and like most things in RVing, controversial. I know I want a soft top roll-up version. Some roll up into what looks like about 8 inches when rolled up. And another that seems more rugged with aluminum slats every foot or so that rolls up about 14 inches while allowing you to see out the rear window.

I think what we’re all looking for is:
• something that will do a good job of keeping out the elements.
• lay flat and stay tight.
• good locking system.
• ease of installation and Maintenance.
• extended side rails don’t impact fifth wheel.
• and looks good - sleek.

We have the Truxedo Pro x15 on our F-350.

No interference issues and it works well. It's more of a convertible material then a shiny vinyl which is a plus for me.

Reasonable price and the same clamped in rails as all the rest of them. It was about $500 on Amazon..

I have a prox15 , turn your truck and trailer into a 75*+ turn or more with the trailer slightly down hill. Check for clearance at the back of the pinbox near your bed rail inside the bed edge! My hitch was low on air pressure due to cold weather , I had light contact on the cover frame and the pin box.

The Truxxedo in expensive cover is really good for the price , you can buy it right off Truxxedo web page and get it delivered to your door in 3~5 days . They are good if you need replacment parts, give them a call and a few day later you have them. Like all cover check your bed rail clearance with your trailer hooked up . With the cover rolled up you still have the cover rails on the top of the bed so you need to watch this as the trailer is down hill from the truck on flat ground. In my opinion 6" of clearance on flat ground is the bare min , more clearance is better. With the newer truck sitting higher this can be a ballance act to have the trailer sit level front to back and still have 6+" of bed rail clearance.

WyoFree, I forgot to mention, if side rails are an issue, the Extang Trifold that I referenced, doesn't use side rails. When the cover is folded, there is nothing mounted to the top of the bed.
