5th wheel cover durability and issues
I searched archives on this with no conclusive evidence. We're looking to get a cover for the 5er before winter as I'm pretty tired of waxing and polishing the rig 2x a year. Winters are long and the wax applied in Sept./oct gets pretty worn off by spring.
Seeing as the world economy and supply chain is all screwed up this year, there are very few choices available in our size. We found a Classic Acessories model and a Winnebago branded one that should fit. I've read that Goldline is a relaible brand with a longer warranty, and there may be one left but it's 40% more than the other brands.
From reading reviews it seems they can ALL tear within a year or less. I have a feeling that improper fastening or protecting from sharp edges is the most likely culprit in most cases, but I've never used such a large cover.
I've used a quality cover on my 22' long truck with no issues, but it's a pain to install and remove.
Any feedback welcome. Our 5er is something like 31'10" long end to end, but we are measuring that today.
