5th wheel hitch

We have purchased a new 5th wheel RV and the dealership has ordered a Curt Q24 hitch and was to change the pin box to a sidewinder pin box. Being that the bed is 6.5th in length. But after doing a little research I’m not sure that the 2 comparable. My findings was when the pin box wage is installed it puts a bind on Q24 barring. Any input about that?

From the curt web page on the Q24

Notes:

Includes 5th wheel head, legs and hardware
Capacity limited to lowest-rated towing component
Not compatible with turret-style pin boxes, such as Sidewinder

Better cancel that hitch order and go with a compatible one, like the B&W.

Good deal

Just got back from dealer, parts guy didn’t believe at first. But the Curt help desk got him straight and problem taken care of. Thanks for your input.

demco auto slide 18K rated unit I have worked flawless . Skip the manual slide type units they will at some point have something behind the it and you will pull the lever without looking and blow your tailgate off the back of the truck costing you BIG money..... My buddie has done it , he didn't think it would happen. He saved $200 on the hitch and cost himself $1500 on the tail gate. There was a block of fire wood behind the hitch as he slide the hitch to the rear for backing in to a site.

Have you considered an Anderson Ultimate. I have one for my XLR toyhauler and find that I do not need a slider. The hitch is rated for 20,000# and only weighs 40#. Saves bed weight weight.

I don’t have a FW yet, but I’ve sold the coach and ordered the RAM3500. I’m considering the Andersen hitch and seeing your post, I’m now convinced. Not sure when I’ll need to tow upside down but good to know I can!

I have a Demco 21K Super Slide and it works perfectly. The piece of mind knowing that it slides back 14" when making a turn. It is perfect for short box pickups.

Hello folks. well i got a 2017 Titan XD PR. 5.0 Cummings. Dealer said i had to go with an anderson. This tuesday it gets installed. Mainly cos the bed is short. an said Titan's are generally made for horse trailers 5th wheel hook up. sounded strange to me also.

I have posted these images in another section but find they might be a better fit here. I just finished adding this and sold my Andersen. Nothing wrong with the Andersen, but I wanted my bed back without having to remove any kind of hitch. The ride is much better than anything I have had before now. It really takes out the harsh bumps and relieves the stress from the truck and trailer. I also added a Weigh safe ball which is very nice and gives me my tongue weight. The Gen Y gets rid of all the weight in your bed. I'm glad Gen Y turned down Lippert who wanted sole distribution of the pin box. Can't imagine what the price would have been then. I have a Ram 2500 with a 6.5 bed and can do a 85 degree turn if need be. 10 inch clearance on my side rails. I'm very happy with it.
