5th Wheel Hitch

Have a 2012 F150 SuperCrew Ecoboost 4x4 with a roll-n-lock tonneau cover. What's my best option for a 5th wheel hitch? On a previous F150 I had a B&W Companion slide hitch but that was 9 years ago and curious if there's anything new that's better. Keep in mind I want to keep my RNL tonneau cover. TIA

demco has good auto sliding hitches, I don't suggest anyone with a short bed use a non- auto sliding style hitch. It will most likely save you a trip to the body shop and the glass company for a new window. If you ever upgrade the truck to a long bed then I would get a trailer saver air ride hitch. The ride in the truck is much nicer than a hitch with a hard connection.

I would not recommend a 5th wheel hitch in any 1/2-ton truck. I know there are some so-called 1/2-ton towable 5er out there, but once loaded you will be over the truck's rear axle GVWR unless you are looking at something like a Scamp.

Well I pulled a 26' Cougar 1/2 ton series thru 3 states with a 2005 F150 Supercrew with no problem and will probably do it again with my 2012. Just wanted to know info on hitche improvements since that was back in 2014. I used a Companion slide hitch then.

I have an '02 2500HD Duramax, crew, 4x4, and my payload is =less= than a similar, properly fitted out, gas 1500. Emphasis on the "properly fitted out". This has been the case for at least 5-6 years. I'd probably be using an aluminum Andersen hitch instead of my preferred B&W Companion, though.
