I originally purchased a B&W Patriot to mount on my rail mounts but due to chucking issues I decided to go to a Trailersaver hitch. The minimum height adjustment of the Patriot was 16" and I was towing nose high with a non adjustable pin box. The folks at Hensley made me a TS3 that was 14" high as opposed to 16" standard and everything tows perfect now with no chucking. They told me they could go lower if need be.

What I am trying to say is to use your adapter with the BD3 and hook up the trailer. Measure your height issues with the truck squatting and see what you have regarding hitch height. If you have a problem the folks at Hensley can most likely offer a solution. I know it would be throwing more money at it but you might be like me and can't ever see towing with anything but a Trailersaver.

I would rather give up traveling than give up my BD3. It makes an amazing difference in the ride comfort. I was able to lower it about an inch and a half which helped. I'm still sitting a bit more nose high than I would like but have some solutions in mind. We have been seriously thinking about the MorRyde IS and if we go that route part of the install is leveling the trailer to the truck. Also, the suggestion about the shorter spacers on the rear axle Of the Ford is another. I will get there but it will be with my BD3.

5th Wheel Hitch Puck System

In the past I have used air to flush out water and no problem. Now the unit I have has a dual wash/dry machine I got to figure out how to do,that one. I guess if I open the water ines to the, washer that should do it but how about the pump inside the washer. Any ideas?

oops wrong post!

I had to lower the head one row of bolts when I added the adaptor into the equation in order to regain level towing.
You can use that adapter but I will stick with my twice as heavy Hensley adapter @ 500. That adapter made from box tubing will not even half equate to the structural strength in my adapter that is all solid steel.

JDT: The 2016 OEM spacers didn't work out so I'm sticking with the stock height. The giant 2017 F350/450 DRW rear axle housing needs a longer spacer. Instead I'm going to raise the Excel fiver a little with some different springs (more arch). It was ready for new springs anyway and hopefully the new ones will hold up better than Dexter springs.

I would never give up my BD 3 for a non air ride hitch . They cost too much to replace .

I'm thinking of getting the B&W Companion for my Ram with the puck system, do you by chance know how much the base weighs? Online I've seen everything from 75-130lbs. Just trying to see if I'll be able to lift it in and out myself. Sweet setup by the way!

Total weight for the Ford model B+W is 185 lbs. The head comes off with the removal of a couple of pins and then the base lifts out separately. No problem moving it around in two pieces.

Thanks. I have made an appointment with MorRyde for November 1 when their winter discount program starts. They will make it level for me as part of the cost of installation. I don't like the idea of sitting taller but that's the way it is.
