5th Wheel Rack and Pinion adjustment

Hi all,
We have a 2009 Komfort 5th wheel. The bedroom slide is 1/2" lower (toward the rear of rv) on one side than it is the other when fully retracted in. To the point where it is catching on the outer slide frame. When putting the slide in and out it has been making a "thud" will stop for a second and then continue on. I took of the cover under the bed to expose the rack and pinion gear. When letting it in to inspect the operation it made the "thud" and one tooth fell off the pinion. Motor works great.
Is there a way to adjust the lower side? I looked for something that the slide would run on guide, wheel, rollers etc... but couldn't see any. Could the slide being lower at one end cause the gear tooth to sheer off? Bolts holding the slide motor are tight.
Thanks
R
