we like our cruiser air cr28rd 5th wheel. because of the opposing slides there is a lot of floor space. the wife likes the island kitchen because there is plenty of prep space and the living area has enough floor space for our 2 big dogs to be out of the way. the 55" tv is a nice feature. the trailer at 32' is smaller than what you are looking for but the brand makes larger trailers and the fit and finish seem better to me than some of the other brands.

We really like the 42’ model with the sectional couch and bar top in place of the dining table. They just weigh too much need a tow vehicle that can handle a 5,500 pin weight.

If you don't care about stickers, a F450 can easily handle 5500 on the pin. You have plenty of axle and tire; might want a set of bags to get off the overloads, but it's enough truck for most of the NH lineup. Every NH I've ever seen in the wild (which, granted, is only 2) has been towed by a F450. Every Spacecraft (3, no idea why I've seen more of them, they are even rarer) was being towed by a semi. Most Luxe owners use a F450, a commercial truck (F550, 5500, etc) with a hauler bed, and a few use a semi.
My 44FB is just a little over 5000 on the pin loaded and ready to travel. 25,999 max weight; so a little over 20% sitting on the pin.

I wouldn’t be comfortable being that much over the manufacturer’s GVWR. A couple hundred lbs yes but 1,000’s no. Others do it, especially on SRW trucks, but that’s not for me.
My truck has a 5291 payload. My pin now is ~4,200. The hitch is 160 and my transfer tank full is about 400. Add my family/dog (450), misc things in the bed (100) and I’m right up to the limit. I know I still have some margin on tires and axles.
I would want a payload of at least 6,500 to carry a pin weight of 5,500 in a pickup. I would quit the 5th route if I had to give up my transfer tank to save weight. I came from a DP with 150 gallons and a usable range of 1,100 miles. I’m still getting used to my new usable range of 650 with the extra tank!
I don’t want this thread to turn into another weight thread…please. New Horizons are awesome but very heavy compared to the mass market ones. The OP should fully understand what they are getting into if they choose to go this route and stay in a similar fit/finish/amenities to a Dutch Star.
I’ve only been up close to one NH other than at a show. It was a big one 44’. Nice couple didn’t get a tour but chatted and they used a Freightliner M2 to haul the beast. That’s when I started to read up on them and realized they are really heavy.

I’m curious if you ever made a decision on a Brinkley?

They did not have any Brinkley toy haulers, but they did have a couple of 5th wheels. They were 2 steps above the GD and Alliance RVs in quality and they were cheaper by a pretty good bit. Now, I am comparing Alliance/GD toy haulers to a regular Brinkley 5th wheel, so it is not a pure apples to apples comparison, but the lengths and amenities were similar. The quality however was an enormous difference. The Brinkley RVs were head and shoulders above even the non toy hauler 5th wheel models in quality, and seemed to run about 10% less on cost as well.
We will be doing some digging on Brinkley RVs for sure. Thanks for the recommendation!

We have a Brinkley, the 35 foot Z3100, and have been on the road now for several months and it is proving to be a very good RV. Solid and tasteful. Glad we got it. We were looking at KZ Durango, Montana and the GD Solitude. None of them compared to the Brinkley.
Just my biased opinion. Hope you find what you need.
Thanks,
Thanks

When we found our NH we had to sell off our loved 2023 Ram 3500 due to the pin weight. We looked at the M2 trucks but they couldn't hand much more pin weight than the Ram 3500. Our pin weight is 6500 and our gvw is 30,000.
We ended up buying a Ram 5500 and had Kilderman air ride put on it. We'll soon be adding the custom bed as well. This truck allowed over 8,000 pin weight and the trucks GVW is 19,500. This has turned out to be a good setup and we could be happier with the NH. It has the quality we had in our Entegra DP. And the basement is HUGE.

What's the limit on a M2's pin weight? I've only looked at them casually, but I thought they had a GVWR up around 50-60K?! I know they are heavy, but compared to a 5500 with a GVWR around 20K, I'd think there was plenty of capacity available for the pin weight??

Most of the M2's come with a 19,500 GVW unless you pay the extra money to get the 26k GVW. The empty weight on a converted M2 is around 14,500. this gives the M2 carrying capacity of only 5000. This wasn't enough for my trailer.
I almost bought a M2 until I found this information out. The older pre-def trucks weigh less which gives them more carrying capacity. It's my understanding that the older trucks weight closer to the 13,000 so their carrying capacity is would be around 6500.
My Ram 5500 has a 19,500 GVW and it weighs well under 10,000. I'll weigh my truck again when I'm done with all of the modifications.
I'm not sure what a Ford 550 can carry but the Ford F450 actually has less carrying capacity than the Ford F350. The F450 is more robust and heavier built but the weights are against the F450 for carrying capacity.
