5th Wheel RV Landing Gear Motor - upgrade
Apparently we have a Lippert Model 1-065-041012-01 electrical motor for our front landing gear.
When we first bought our rig used (I quickly installed a breaker) because it knocked off 2 or 3 times when lifting. It is easy to lift manually so I assumed it was a too small of a motor. I grease on a regular basis.
I now have a new style of hitch where I have to lift the front even higher and the pia motor needs to be replaced.
I have heard there is a large motor that can be swapped in.. anybody do this and what is the model number.
I am not interested in moving to the 2 motor system.
Thanks

I have the same problem, upgraded my jacks last summer and reused the motor that is on the rig. I believe like you it's either to small for the job(slow as molasses on a cold day) or it's about to go. I am also looking to upgrade to a better motor, it takes what seems like for ever to get the rig high enough to hook to my Andersen hitch...

Funny .. we downsized our truck and went with an Anderson too. It took 7 resets to get it off the hitch..
Another quality product from china..

Yes sir! Like the author of this tread, I can raise and lower mine quicker by hand. Funny thing, I didn't notice how slow it was when I bought the rig...But if I keep it, it will be an upgrade done pretty soon, I don't want supersonic speed up and down, be dang...when I can do it by hand faster, that's slow...

Do you think the existing motor can handle a higher voltage? I was thinking about putting a 12V-24V converter in before my motor to speed it up. Something like this:

If the motor is not rated for 24 volt, would most likely burn it out and maybe cause a fire...what does the spec sticker on the motor say....mine says 12vdc only...

What the heck.. I e-mailed the manufacturer.. or actually importer.. and asked if there was a swap out / swap in upgrade for this unit.
I will post response.. if I get one..
My rv store would not say what unit they would use .. just we start at 200 bucks before install and go up.. Hmmmm. If it is a swap out / in, I cannot see this being a difficult job..

All you have to do is disconnect battery mark wires as to what goes to what if not colored the same, remove pin from shaft and remove motor. Reinstall same way came off. I did my landing gear last summer in less than 2 hours and it was a piece of cake, the repair shop wanted 500 just to put them on..

I edited and posted a different website with replacement and other options
Venture, Lippert, Tuson, Stromburg....basically all the same
Single motors...7140 RPM/5000# or 5500 RPM/6500#
Typically 2 bolts hold motor to gear box which is then pinned to shaft

5000# of torque? You mean like 5 Cummins diesel engines as installed in the RAM truck?
They are two different gearings (speeds) and will lift the poundage shown. In theory. More RPMS and most likely a different gearing for more weight.
