More confusion? See Lippert pdf Level Up 5th wheel page 143.
You don't have to be an engineer to realize and visualize the stress you are putting on one line of these cylinders to raise one side of a fiver high enough to clear the tires. See "Hydraulic Cylinder Side Loads".
Anyone who blows this off as just something for the lawyers to add on a sticker hasn't been around hydraulics long enough. Do it enough and I hope you only blow a seal or bend/break something repairable.
Besides, a 4 or 6 ton bottle jack is a whole lot cheaper than even one of those cylinders.

They have to say those things due to safety issues, but that doesn't mean it is unsafe. There are a few threads on this and other forums discussing this. Believe what you want to and do what feels best for you.
