Though the auto levelers made it very firm in the back and center of our FW, there was some side to side movement when walking in the upper bedroom. Using the tripod made the entire rig very stable. I suppose we would have gotten the same results with JT strong arms or similar. Probably would not use for a quick overnight stop, but would for just about anything else.

The tripod is a hit an miss thing. Some like them some don't see any difference. The only one that does work is the stabilizer built into the nose of some Newmar 5th wheels. The legs for the stabilizer are attached to the I-Beam across the front. "Grab the bull by the horns" So to speak.

We've been using a tripod for almost 2 years and wouldn't go without it. It makes a huge difference on our 5er! Whenever we leave it off there is very noticeable movement, but with the tripod there is almost no movement at all.

I bought our tripod when we had a 39' 5th wheel in 2012. On that trailer it was a major help. We now have a 33' 5th wheel and we don't feel much movement in it so adding the tripod doesn't make much if any difference. I think if they help or not depends a lot on the trailer.

Our trailer has the 6-point leveling system. We used to be able to feel our guests walking about in the garage that also doubles as a bedroom. The front struts are long and it dawned on me to shorten them to see if that made a difference so they might not wobble so much. I tried 6"x8" blocks under the front struts and we don't feel people moving about quite so much. Seems shortening the length of the front struts works.
