5th Wheels Harder to Sell?

So the other day we purchased a new to us 2011 Coachmen Chaparral for our seasonal site. As we were talking with the salesmen he said that they have far too many fifth wheels and are really trying to move them. He said the majority of their business is now travel trailers. His reasoning....people can't afford or don't want the larger trucks needed to pull most fifth wheels. I am just curious if anyone else has heard information like this...

I would just naturally think the best sellers would be light weight travel trailers that would be affordable to young families with an SUV and camping for the first time. I see lots of TTs around my neighborhood and fewer 5th wheels.

Since I have had just about everything I feel 5th wheels are the safest way to go. Just my opinion. First time campers don't learn this until the first big gust of wind.

I feel it is only natural for TTs to be better sellers.

I have an MH but I will not get rid of my truck, just in case I go back.

Usually 5th wheels are a step up. But the dealer is using his own opinion. Sales for all types are booming at the moment.

Overall, all RV sales are up, as Vfox said. But that's a generalization. Not all areas see the same sales. In our area at least, fifth wheels aren't selling near as fast as bumper pulls. But it may turn around later.

I would certainly agree. We just switched to pulling a fifth wheel and the difference is night and day. I won't ever go back to a TT pull behind again.
