About to go crazy....

Hi everyone. New to this site and trying to figure it all out. Let me start with my husband and I purchased a 2017 cedar creek Hathaway CK2 from a dealer. It was used and we just purchased 3months ago and had it delivered. We started in Utah heading to New York for my husband's work transfer. We literally got 30 miles away on the freeway and we hear scraping and the whole plastic bottom was dragging and insulation flying everywhere. We are complete newbies I might add...lol. we pull over on the freeway and one screw is holding 2 sheets of heavy plastic probably 7ftx4ft. We take that off and have to cut all the insulation that's dragging all over off. Now we have everything exposed. We had zip ties and tied all the wiring up so nothing is dangling and rechecked as we went along. We stopped for the evening and the hydraulic leveling system was fine..until we got here. We can't even pull the truck out from under the rv. No slides. We have no idea what's wrong and it's taking forever for someone to come help us. Everywhere is completely booked out. So if anyone has a suggestion that would be great. Also the 5thwheel is 20,000 lbs. Could we take 20,000lb hydraulic jacks that are on Amazon and put them under the leveling feet and jack up about 6" to at least get the truck out from under and unhooked from a anderson hitch? Please if anyone can help we'd appreciate it.

Your front jacks ar electric per this link: https://www.rvusa.com/rv-guide/2017-...-36ck2-tr31321 so you should be able to manual crack the jacks up and down per a procedure like these https://www.etrailer.com/question-317551.html, url]https://www.rvvacations.com/blog/manually-override-your-fifth-wheels-electric-jacks-in-3-simple-steps/[/url]. If it is hydraulc jack there is a separate procedure I can provide. Confirm the jack manufacturer to do an internet search on how to manually-override your jacks OR call your dealer to walk you through the procedure. I had to do that on an Everest fifth wheel with electric front jacks when their motors failed. Even if they are hydraulic they should be able to manually extended / raised.

By the way, the specs say the trailer has a GVWR of 16,525 lbs.

Yes, you can go to any auto parts place and pick up a couple bottle jacks and jack stands.

Since only the front is being lifted, 3+ ton jacks and stands should be fine.

Make sure the jack stands are 3+ton EACH. Sometimes they are rated for the pair.

Hey thank you. I'm just giving a guesstimate. I just know it's big. Neither of us are mechanically inclined.
We had a service person come out and he tried to extend them with a drill and said it wasn't working. I honestly don't know that I trusted him to know everything. 100 to show up and 400 to do a diagnostic. So 500$ later he still didn't know but would order some parts and try them out. Meanwhile if you have some ideas I'm happy to hear them. Yes I'd love them sent. I'll also call my service department where we purchased it in Utah. Thanks!

Thanks. So that would lift it about 6 inches?

No I'm know we're hydraulic. We had to check our hydraulic fluid. So I'm sure on that.

Is there any way you can get that RV back to the selling dealer?

Have you checked power to your hydraulic system? There are "self-resetting" breakers normally located wherever your batteries are (see pics for what to look for) that are known to go out. If that is the case, you legs won't extend and nor will your hydraulic slides operate. They are relatively cheap to replace if needed..

As for getting the trailer off the truck, you can block the legs with crisscrossed wood to rest the trailer on using bottle jack, etc. to lift just enough to get weight off the truck and sit the trailer down on the wood blocks (see pic for example).

Your pin weight (weight of the trailer at the hitch) is usually 3 thousand pounds or less so a 2-ton jack should work. You aren't lifting the entire weight of the trailer.

Good luck.Click image for larger version

Sorry to hear about your troubles.

Have you confirmed you still have strong fully charged batteries? You mentioned no slides and no hydraulic jacks; both of these functions use 12V power and require good batteries.

If you have a residential fridge running on an inverter while traveling for the day, it can certainly deplete a weak battery.

I suggest confirming all battery cables/terminals are clean & tight, including the ground connection to the trailer frame.

If you have access to a multi-meter, you can check battery voltage quickly. Voltage should be 13.2-13.6V for a fully charged battery.

A weak battery can create a number of seemingly major issues with various functions and systems (guess how I know this.)

Best wishes for a quick resolution and safe travels.

If the slides AND jacks don't work, it could be the hydraulic pump breaker blew and needs to be reset.
Yours may look different than mine but look for something like the photo with a little button or arm sticking out. Push or rotate as needed to reset it.

Mine will blow the breaker if the auto level system has a hiccup and runs the jacks until the breaker blows. Really freaked me out the first time it happened. Now I know the signs and how to reset the breaker.

Is it just the hydraulics that don't work?

Do you hear any clicking when you try to extend the front jacks?Click image for larger version

In that case there are videos on how to do a manual override on hydraulic jacks like https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q...%26FORM%3DVDRE. I would do that first.

I’m wondering if something got pulled loose when the bottom came loose?

Is the battery cut-off switch in the correct position? Surely the tech checked that? Sometimes the hydraulic system is wired in after it , sometimes before.

OP hasn't updated in a while. Since they are new to some of this, I would like to stress safety if using bottle jacks to raise the camper. It is easy enough to do and can be safely done. Avoiding a mishap includes chocking the tires properly, and having a hard, level, and stable surface for the jacks to rest on. Think it through and go slowly. Also, I wouldn't want the bottle jacks under the leveling legs because that would decrease stability. If you need to work on the leveling legs at that point, you'd still be stuck with no way to check or repair the landing gear system.
