AGM Batteries
I'd like to hear from people who have switch from wet cell batteries to AGM, what brands are good, what to look for, how they compare to the wet cell type.
I am going to use these in my RV, so deep cycle would be the best choice, right?

A couple months ago I replaced my two 6 volt wet batteries with 6 volt Duracell AGM batteries from Sam's club. $189 each plus $20 core charge.
I've been checking water levels every month for 14 years and have had enough of that!
The AGM batteries are a lot heavier so I bought a battery carrying strap which made it a bit easier to carry and install the batteries.

The batteries are actually manufactured in Pennsylvania.

Lifeline and Full River both make excellent AGM batteries.

I bought 4 Lifeline 12 volt 8D AGM's last year. Cost was about $2,700 installed.

The best thing I ever did.
Trojan 6 volt AGM for house, 2 12 volt AGM for starting. No more corrosion, no gasses, compartment stays completly clean, they accept faster charge and last longer.
Have to make sure your inverter/charger set correctly and alternator same.

I went with 4 Lifeline Gp4ct 6 volt batteries, and they are great. If I had the space I would of went with the taller gp6ct.

I just replaced my four 12V Flooded batteries with four 6V Trojan T105 AGMs

Best money spent on upgrades so far

AGM and wet batteries typically privide similar performance and longevity. Wet batteries will typically take more abuse than AGM with less capacity or longevity loss (deep discharging, being left discharged, etc).
With AGM typically at 2x to 3x the cost.
AGM are of course maintenance free and dont mess up the battery bay.
So it mostly comes down to how adverse one is to the maintenance of wet batteries...

Lifeline AGM's are certified for military and marine use. Very tough on batteries but the Lifelines do just fine.

I had AGM and went back to FLA. The cells cannot be tested when there's a problem. The AGM cost me 50% more for less life than I had out of FLA.
It takes me about 1/2 hour to top up 8-6V three times a year.

What does that mean ?
Are they the only ones certified by the military ?
