Alumacraft slide

Hoping to get Two Bit to come up on this one. I know he has one and has been willing to help. I pulled all the old nasty carpet, and did all the mechanical repairs to fix the water damage, and now I'm ready to install vinyl plank flooring (Allure adhesive type). The slide appears to ride up over the main floor on a strip of uhmw plastic. I think this will keep the slide from marring the main floor, but I'm concerned about how to hide the gap revealed when the slide is deployed with something strong enough and flexible enough to not only hide the gap, but be strong enough to walk on with the slide in. I'm open to all suggestions, except replacing the carpet. DW doesn't want that.
