Anderson 3220 w/2018 GM puck system
I just ordered a Anderson Connection 2 3220 hitch. I intend to use it with my 2018 GMC 3500HD with the standard box (6.5'). The truck was ordered it with the 5th wheel package (puck system).
My question is; Will the hitch cover the 4 corner pucks and not allow me anchor your safety chains?
I know they sell a ring that attaches to the ball if that's the case. I'm just trying order the right parts for my system.
Thank you,
Kim

There is a fair chance it will cover the corner pucks as it does in my Ford. The cheapest solution is the new Andersen part that attaches to the ball as you won't have to modify the 3220. However, Andersen designed the system never intending the use of safety chains and the majority of states don't require them for the AUH. The point being there is no real hurry and no need to get the chain setup in advance. I towed for a couple months without and finally read just ONE case where a trooper made someone leave his fiver at the side of the road because of no chains. Whether the trooper was right or wrong is not the issue; leaving the fiver at the side of the road is. If you really feel the need, just get the chain kit and the Andersen loop and you'll be good to go.

I noticed on the Curt website a chain adapter for Chevy & Ram pucks.

While Curt does have chain loops, they take a 45* turn out of the puck and won't work with the AUH because of that. The Reese loops are vertical and work well on the Fords.

I use chains but I'm in Texas. Our rules say ball type must have chains but the exception clause says 5er hitches exempt. Law too fuzzy for me so I use them. I'm rural so see dozens upon dozens of gooseneck trailers & almost none with chains so not much enforcement.

In most states, yes. Andersen didn't originally plan on the use of safety chains. That came from popular demand.

It has arrived!
The hitch showed up today! I had to get it out of the box and check it out. It's a work of art.
I think I still want to move forward with the safety chains just to avoid any problems with the law and I think it's another level of safety.
Thank You all for your input and help. Being a "Newbie" is a lot fun with the super support of you, the IRV2 responders.

You're going to love your Andersen Ultimate 2. I have towed about 25,000 trouble free miles using an Andersen. My truck is a RAM, so I can't answer your question. My RAM chain hooks do fit with the hitch installed.
Happy trails,

Thanks for posting. Are you referring to the chain hooks in the pucks? I have a 2016 3500 and wondered if the puck loops will work with the 3220. Can you post a pic of the hitch and puck loops installed ? Not sure if there any differences 2016 vs 2017. Mine below partially cover the puck area.

x2. You will really love it when watching other 5er owners with traditional hitches aligning/hitching their rig (yawn/BANG).
Our division of labor has substantially changed now when hitching/unhitching since DW can manage the front jacks/Andersen coupler lock. Our hitch/trailer setup time has drastically reduced compared to our bumper pull where I had to do everything.
That said, I have not yet mastered the solo hitching yet and it is much more time consuming vs my bumper pull. My bed camera does not give me a good enough view of depth distance for the Andersen hitch alignment. I can get it with a swift hitch camera on the bed rail but that takes me a time or two getting in/out of the truck. I hope to have that sorted out by summer.
