Anderson 5th wheel hitch

I purchased a 5ht wheel the dealer set it up with a Anderson hitch. The problem is that on sharp turns I have done damage to my hard top rail. Basically the rail has save damage to my box rails, can I raise the ball up without affecting my towing ?

Depends on a lot of factors, are you level now, raising the ball will put a tad bit more weight on the rear trailer axle. How low is the rear of the 5er, will raising the ball cause you to drag tail. If you have a long bed you could turn the adapter box around.

HITCH

Hi I too have Anderson hitch the way it was explained to me is trailer should be level, nose can be down a little. If nose is up to much can cause wobble. Maybe someone here can explain more

What is causing the damage; is the fiver to rail clearance too low as is less than 6" or is the pin box too long and striking the rail from inside? If the second one, you need to reverse the adapter on the pin box to put the socket behind the pin.

If you have the coupler ball portion in front of the king pin then try reversing it. That will shorten the distance of the arc.

This the way I had mine set up when I used the AUH. My 5er came with the extended pinbox so the arc is quite large along with the taller beds causing problems also.

Coupler is in front, just purchased a new 5th wheel I pick it up Wednesday I'll make sure the RV dealer corrects the problem. The last dealer didn't help out much during the purchase.
