I am currently, in the last 3 weeks been getting acquainted with 5th wheels and travel trailers again. In a nutshell I think quality is slightly better than in 2013, the last time I bought a travel trailer.

I say this because the Furrion stoves look better, the solid steps are better, refrigerators are 8cu ft instead of 6. The trim pieces seem to be glued on better as I am not seeing many loose trim pieces.

On Winnebago I am seeing a few odd things like at the outside on their slide corner. There is a 5" white piece of rubber tape there. Not sure why.

On Grand Design I open the wardrobe door and the door vibrates because it is super thin.

As it stands now I like the Flagstaff trailers and 5th wheels the best. I do want to look at the Cougar trailers and a few others in the next few weeks. See if I can find what I think is better than the Flagstaff/Rockwood twins.

They introduced the Destination fiver a few years ago and that tanked.
They bought Grand Design and now premium and class A manufacturer Newmar.
Looks to like the Winnebago name is going to be just an umbrella with other manufacturers under it.
Time will tell but I certainly don't think they are turning out anything like they used to.
Do you know why the Winnebago Destination 5th wheel "tanked" ? We bought a 2017 39FB last year. Other than a sealant lack causing the living room slide floor to rot ,generally we think this 5er is way better than any of the newer ones. The Lippert/Winnebago frame seems solid; it has shock absorbers(4) and all the attachments seem to be well welded, even with support gussets over the spring hangers etc.
If anyone has any comments about 2017 and older Winnebago 5ers please dont be shy !

My Winnebago Destination 39FB is a gem among 5th wheels of that era. The chassis/frame has welded gussets on all the fittings, like spring hangers and shock absorber mounts. The I beam looks much heavier than any newer models. The roof has a radius much like a diesel pusher, very curved and the radius is aluminum under the TPO material. A very well made fibreglass cap at the rear adds to the strength of this unit.Winnebago discontinued the Destination series when they purchased Grand Design as it was too costly to build. Now compare the Destination to the Solitude for instance which is a lightweight piece of crap ,in my humble opinion.
