My 5th wheel has Atwood Electric 'Standard duty' front landing gear leg that I need to lube. The non-motor side has a removable cover over the pinion gears, so it's easy to get to. The motor side is a bit of a problem, as I cannot locate the pinion gears, as the manual jack tube that goes thru this area, it feels if there is a plate over the gears (due to the tight confines, I have use a mirror and feel with my fingers). The Atwood documentation is not of much help. Anyone have any tips, or better yet, pictures of this?

I also want to lube the jack screw in each leg, of course there appears to be no provision made for maintenance of these. I guess I could remove the drop tubes and go at it from the bottom; or can the whole leg be easily removed so I could work in it in the shop?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

-steve

Really there is no maintenance needed. Even the gear drive on the motor is almost maintenance free. I put new heavy duty one on mine 5 years ago, replaceing the standard duty. I took the old ones apart to just look. The beggest wear is the beveled grass gears and light greas once in a great while is all that is necessary, unless you use them several times a day.
