Baggage door lock replacement help

I bought replacement baggage door locks from rvlocksandmoore.com with backplates.

So I cut the whole bigger since the existing is too small. When I place the new lock in the mounting holes stick too far away from the door. So I have no way too tighten them against the back of the door.

My current locks have a thick plastic piece that screws on the back pushing the plunger back a few inches.

Anyone know what I can do in this case?

A photo would help us help you. It's not really clear if the problem is with a too long lock cylinder in a too thin door or the hole is not in the right location.

Here is the current lock.

And here is the new lock.

The plunger sits right on the back door with the new lock. However, the mounting holes stick back too far for me to tighten with the mounting plate.
The old plunger sits further out and they used a metal spacer on the rail on the RV so the plunger will latch.

Looks like perhaps you have the wrong replacement lock. Have you checked with RV maker to see if the correct one is available? They might identify lock manufacturer and part #.

I'll talk to the seller again on Monday to see what they suggest. I already cut the hole out bigger on one so going back to the OEM isn't an option. I also have a buddy who does custom fabrication, so hopefully worst case scenario I can have him make something up. For a moment I though about using washers between the plate and back of the door, but that wouldn't solve the issue of it being tight against the door.
