Batteries

We have a 2004 5th wheel used full time as our camp. Never haul it on the road. We would like suggestions as to what kind of battery or should we be using more than one. We don't have electricity so need battery power to keep the refrigerator running. Any suggestions would be helpful

The simple answer is you need a 12v battery. Preferably deep cycle. Two of them would be better than one.
The elephant in the room has to be addressed. How are you planning to keep the battery(ies) charged? You say you don't have electricity, so there are basically four choices.
1- Generator
2- Solar
3- Jumper cables to a running vehicle for extended periods.
4- Take the battery(ies) elsewhere to recharge.

You would probably be better off with two 6 volt batteries hooked in series for 12 volts. Look around for GC 2 batteries. There are four golf carts and are true deep cycle batteries. The true deep cycle batteries will, most of the time allow for twice as many "cycles" as a regular battery, thus extending the longevity of the batteries. Check out the Trojan brand, like the T105 or bigger....depending on how much room you have for the battery storage area.

Disagree with 6 volt batteries if only using two.... If one dies, you're sol....

If you parallel 2- 12V batts a weak one will bring the better one down to the weaker level...do some searching & researching...6 V GCs in series much preferred in my book....and many others.

In your situation I would go with the Golf cart batteries. Especially if you don't have a way to easily charge them the GC batteries will last much longer.

..and double the number of 12V means the 2x the number of (issues) cells.

Best bang for the buck is 2x6v.

We done 1 and 4 but 1 doesn't make the battery hold charge between visits. 4 is hard because the battery is heavy to take out recharge and put back that's why I'm looking for a solution to keep the charge between visits

Welcome to the forum.
Perhaps a combination of 1, 2, would make sense for your situation.
Not knowing the size of your battery bay you'd do well to fill it with as many cells as will comfortably fit. Batteries of the same configuration and vintage will provide the best results. Meaning same voltage, manufacture date etc.
You can purchase a self contained solar setup that is sized to handle the requirements of your needs. The refrigerator controls, (you're running it's cooling on LPG no doubt?). Perhaps a 100-200W unit? It would consist of a PV panel, charge controller and could install as easily as alligator clamps. Although theft might be a factor?
Then there should be enough capacity for the battery tending issue.
Then you use whatever generator while your present.

Do some more research and it'll become clear to you, Living on the 12V side of life.

Best wishes.
