OK, I need to know how to replace the awning arms on my A&?E awning, Pretty sure its the basic 8500 model. I know when I take off the top bracket on the torsion tube there is a lot of spring pressure on that. How do you lock this so it does not lose its tension? There is a small pinhole on the side of the torsion tube, am I supposed to put something in there to lock it down? If so how long does it have to be? Any and all tips/info greatly appreciated.

Jay,
A long heavy cotter pin, I think 1/8 inch does it. That hole will go all the way through so you may have to unroll the awning a short way to get the hole in the spring shaft lined up. After that, it goes easy.

Hmmm The hole in the end cap seems awfully tiny for a 1/8" cotter pin - I'll take another look tonite but all I could get in there before was a small brad, and then it had to be short as the arm interfered with putting it straight in. The awning is all the way out now..
