I don't recommend any RV/Marine battery.

A true Deep Cycle battery will serve you better.

Less cranking amps ( your not starting anything ) but more, double the cycles of use ( run it down and charge it back up ).

Trojan is a popular brand.

I agree. I just bought and installed two Trojan T105 batteries in my Toy Hauler. They are used to start the 5500W Onan generator, but in the scheme of things, that doesn't require much cranking amps.

I agree with this. You do not want an RV battery for a 5th wheel. Typically you want pairs of 6v batteries.

I agree Trojan is popular, I have 4 T-105RE in my unit.

When I get my next unit, I will be looking at lithium, but that is much more expensive, but I will be using it a lot.

There are tons of threads on this subject here and on other boards.

For the "true" answer you need to actually figure out how many amp hour (AH) of 12v you need/want and how long you want to go between charging. Then you will know your exact needs.

Each situation is different. You might only nee something with 100 AH, or much higher like others.

If you have a Costco near you check if they carry the Interstate GC-2 6 volt batteries. I have 6 of them for about two years and they have served us very good. My local Costco sells them for $83.95 each. Sam's Club has similar pricing on GC-2 batteries. Most of our camping is dry so we rely on our batteries being good.

Best is a very relative term. What was best for me the last time was two new Duracell 12 RV/marine batteries from Sam's Club because the price was low, the size fit in the space available and they will last me through the night when dry camping. Combine that with a good generator to charge them the next morning and I am a happy camper using my extra cash to have other fun. ;-) I only use them a few times a year. The rest of the time the batteries coast as we are on shore power.

Best batteries

I went thru the same thing you are going thru now last year. After a ton of research I ended up buying Crown batteries. They had a dealer near us and they should last us quite awhile. Just check the water levels every month or so and they will last. Just my two cents worth!
