on Interstate I can see going 75mph+
but most state highways have many potholes which will make your 5r go boom
tires fine, inside not so much - had kitchen/pantry thrown all over
stuff all over place

36' Montana 5th wheel tires
So with all this information, I'm a bit confused. I have a 36' 5th wheel, GVWR is 14,500. The tires that are on it are LT 235/85R16 LRE M+S. I was told I should upgrade the tires but they didn't say to what. So now I'm going down the rabbit hole and don't know what I'm looking at anymore. Any advice would be appreciated.

If they are less then 5 years old by date code and name brand like goodyear .your fine. Your GVW is light enough to run LT range E good tires.

The LT 235/85-16 E has 3042 lbs capacity X four = 12168 lbs of capacity.
Your 14500 gvwr trailer mat have two 6k axles = 12000 lbs capacity.
I would weigh the trailers axles fully loaded . LT E may not have enough capacity for that trailer.
Are your LT E tires OEM or a replacement set. Gotta' have enough tire capacity plus 10-15 percent reserve capacity for the load carried.

Thank you for getting back so quickly.
The tires are closer to 8 or 9 years. These tires where on it when I bought it, the name on them is " BFGoodrich Commercial tire". I haven't moved the trailer in 5 years, but I'm planning on taking it out this summer. so I do need to replace them.

After a couple years of debating with myself, I just switched from Goodyear Endurance to the Hercules H-901s. The Goodyears were great except for the shallow tread depth. I have run into several people who run the Hercules and they are happy.
The one issue I have is what pressure to use. Hercules is no help and just says max is 110. That's it, no chart. The dealer shrugged their shoulders and said they put in 100. I'd rather not have them rock hard to reduce bouncing down the road.
I ran the Endurance at 65 psi.

Knowing the weight of the rig will help in determining the tire pressure. A CAT scale is good for this purpose.

Upgrade will depend on how much load is on the trailers axles.
If the trailer has 6k axles and actual scaled axle weights are 6k and under then I would go with the commercial grade all steel ply carcass Bridgestone R-250 in a LT235/85-16 E at 3042 lbs capacity. Great choice for 5.2k and 6k axles.
I've ran the 16" LT BFG Commercial T/A and now the T/A2 on my rv and service trailers.
If the trailer has 16" 110 psi rated wheels and 7k axles lb scaled loads are 3100 to 3500 lbs per wheel then a commercial grade all steel tire like the 16" Sailun S637 in a ST235/80-16 load G at 4040 lbs capacity /110 psi.
The Hercules H-901 is another good commercial grade tire for RV or regional service trailers.
Some rv folks tend to over tire their trailers to the point the tires have to be ran derated with lower tire pressures ie; E tire at 65 psi or G tire at 80 or even 65 psi psi. Not the best idea for tire on a conventional trailer for cooler running temp and longer service life.
Don't over load/over pressure a tire or wheel.

I get weighed every year and have also had every individual wheel weighed by the RV Safety Foundation. That's where the 65 psi came from (Goodyear's chart). My point is that pretty much every tire company has a pressure chart EXCEPT for Hercules.
Hercules are a much heavier tire, literally, than the Endurance, with different construction. No comparison.

Sailun 637 is my first choice for heavy trailers. They are available in two sizes and they are very heavy all steel belted construction. FYI LT tires have a built in safety margins becuase they are designed for passenger car use. Trailer tires have higher rating with he margins removed on the factory ratings. I would run the BFG commercial TA's at the side wall rating for 50,000 miles before I ran a chinabomb nylon belted tire for 50 miles on a hot day at its rated weight.
