Black Tank leak

Lifestyle LS37CKLS 5th Wheel

Had an instance where black tank was very full. Not to the point of fluid level in toilet bowl, but to the point it was gurgling (my wife’s description).

Sewage liquid was dripping out bottom of rig.

When I took it to be repaired, service manager surmised that there was not a specific leak but that there is a rubber sleeve connecting the toilet to the tank and that when the tank level reached that point the sewage was simply leaking out of that sleeve.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

If it has a rubber sleeve, then there usually is a clamp to hold it.

Have the dealer tighten the clamps.

1st suggestion is don't let it get that full and if it's full don't drive any distance to get it dumped. If your overfill situation occurred while using the black tank flush, don't connect the water, turn it on and go about other business. Stay there, monitor the tank levels and drain at 2/3 full.

If it is a rubber sleeve leaking, tighten it and be VERY grateful that is all the problem. I have had 3 black tanks replaced. I have no rubber sleeve. The pipe is glued to the tank. The first time I turned on the water and walked away. Cracked the tank. It was replaced and that one failed with a few months (don't know why). The third one failed right in the shop as number 2 was being replaced. I think they rushed and did not get the glue cured. The present one has been fine for a few years but I have changed my dumping routine.
I dump the black tank every Saturday. I never pay attention to the monitor because I don't trust them. When I flush I never leave it alone.
Learned that the hard way and that stuff sure stinks.
