Can' find insurance for 5th Wheel

The insurance company that has the policy on my Jeep and my renters insurance called me this morning to tell me she couldn't find a company to insure the Redwood I'm planning to buy and live in full time beginning next summer. Bottom line was they wouldn't insure because I was going to be using it full time. Not sure why she's having an issue because I'm sure there are dozens of full timers out there with insurance on their 5th wheels. My permanent address will be here in Michigan. Any leads to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.

You have to buy special insurance for full time use. You cannot just add it to your vehicle policy. Full time RV insurance is much like homeowners insurance. I think Progressive and Good Sam sell insurance for fulltimers.

That company probably will not cover your jeep when you go full time either.

Get a quote HERE for Full Timers

Another with Good Sam discounts

Contact an independent agent that specializes in full-timer insurance. We use Miller Insurance. They can give you quotes from a couple of companies.

Ditto on Miller Insurance. Give Willard a call there. He put together a Fulltimers policy for our new DRV & F-450 at half of a couple of other companies.

We use Good Sam for the camper and three vehicles. We are full timers and we make sure the insurance people were aware it.

On a related note, I understand some companies will cancel your warrantee on the RV if you live in it full time, and it is not rated for full time. I have no idea if the one you are looking at is full time rated, but it is something to think about.

That was the main reason I went with Redwood. They are rated for full time and since I first posted this question I've contacted Miller in Oregon and have a quote. Thanks for the suggestions and responses

We've been fulltime for 9 years and have never encountered anyone this has happened too. Could anyone post real life experiences to this question
