Changing Steps, Maybe

Our new Pinnacle has the MORryde Step Above steps. They are nice and very stable but I have an issue with them. We have an rv garage that is 18 feet wide with a 14 wide foot door. It is part of a larger building that also has my shop. The garage door frame on the Pinnacle's door side is only a few inches from the shop dividing wall. This means I have to get within a few inches of the door frame on the other side of the trailer to have the clearance I need to swing the steps down. Very uncomfortable for me when backing to say the least.

In another forum I discovered that Torklift has a relatively new step called the Revolution Uprising. Works with the same inside mount principle as the MORryde but eliminates the clearance issue. Anyone tried them?

Have not seen those before but decided against the step above steps for the clearance issue and the dirt, rain and snow falling inside the trailer when stowed. Have seen several people who could not put their steps out.

I was going to get the Glow step Revolution steps since they provide the same support but have no clearance issues and stow in the same step box on the outside, but I built a custom porch instead since I plan on being here for quite awhile.

Thanks, Bob. I know they are noted for their quality. I don't have a well for the steps as my MORryde mounts inside the door. The uprising will mount inside the door also. It pulls out and folds down similar to the well mounted type. I think they were just introduced last year.

My Momentum came with the Lippert Solid step and I too had limited space when the RV was under our shelter. I was going to buy the Torklift Glowstep Uprising, but discovered that even though the trailer was built at the factory with the Solid Step being used, they had also installed a step box under the door way also. I didn't see it at first because of the skirting there, but on closer inspection, I discovered the step box frame. I used a jig saw to cut the skirting out and expose the step frame, then lined the edge of the opening with some automotive edge moulding and mounted the glowsteps in the box frame just like you would do with any steps.

Before shot......

After shot with the new Glowsteps....

Was at a dealer and saw the new stairs and was impressed with the step above. But then I noticed they are big and really limit parking options as the units in the lot were all cramped in. Then I thought about access I routinely open the door and chuck stuff inside all the time, dealing with them would suck , spring loaded was cool. But someone mentioned rain and dirt.. no kidding. Great idea but not for me.

Nice! I went and looked and sure enough the mounting brackets are there. The skirting hiding them is sheet metal so I could do the same thing. It would be a little cheaper but I would have some holes to fill and new trim work for the inside where the mounting brackets for the steps are screwed to the door frame. Even if I get the Torklift Uprising I would still have get some door trim. The MORryde door frame bracket is a lot taller than the Torklift. The trim is cut off at the top of the bracket. Fortunately I can mill some trim in my shop.

Thanks for the tip.

I ordered the Revolution Uprising steps this morning to replace the MORryde steps. It is the 5 step version. I have the mounting brackets behind the skirting for a well mount but when I remove the MORryde I would have some screw holes in the floor to deal with. The Torklift bracket won't use the same holes but it will cover the old ones. Also, the price difference between the well mounted and the door mounted types is only $40. I will post a picture or two when I get it done.

You make a good decision with Torklift,I got the glowsteps for 2 years and I am very satisfy with them.
