Cleaning landing gear

Hey guys, we are about 6 months in our 5th wheel. Whats the best way to clean the landing gear, mainly the jack legs. I notice some buildup on both front and back. How often should I be greasing/lubing the legs? Thanks

Should not be any grease on landing gear.jacks have hydraulic oil in them. Most people spray jacks with silicone oil and wipe.Watch your hydraulic oil level in tank should be about 1" from top when slides in jacks retracted.

If you're referring to hydraulic rams, they shouldn't need any maintainance ever unless they leak oil internally or externally. You can wipe them down with a shop towel if you want to. The pistons are hard Chrome plated and do not rust.

If they're a hydraulic type, I would just wet a rag with whatever hydraulic fluid they used and clean the legs with that. It's how we clean and lubricate the shock absorbers on aircraft landing gear.

My 5er has electric landing gear. My manual calls for silicone spray lube on the legs and SAE30 oil on the gear train.

Any oil based product will attract more dirt. Wipe with a rag and spray with silicone spray.
If you spend anytime near the gulf/ocean everything can rust or pit. Even plastic chrome.

I wouldn't. That will get them dirtier in the long run. As said above. Clean with a cloth and spray with dry lube if you feel the need to spray.
