How clean do you get the roof? Ours has got little black spots all over it. I have tried a RV cleaner from Wal mart and Spic and Span but it still got the specks. They seems to get the loose dirt off but not much more. Is this normal for a rubber roof ?

Tom,
I just wash mine with car wash soap and water about once a year, I'm reluctant to use anything stronger for concerns of shortening the life of the rubber membrane. I don't fret over the small black spots, I think they're just mildew spots and really won't hurt the roof.

I use the rubber roof conditioner and do it once or twice a year. Maybe I will wash and wax the whole trailer soon. We are retiring and hope to spend some time in the South this winter.

Ok thanks Richard I was just wondering about the black spots. I am afraid to use bleach or anything strong also.

If you go to http://www.dicor.com (company that makes EDPM roofing used on many RV's) and click on Installation Information, they say that you can use mineral sprits applied to a cloth for subborn stains, and do NOT use Acetone. They also say not to let the solvent pool or stay in contact with the roof for an extended period.
Personally, I just wash it with RV roof cleaner, and I don't care about the little spots that it won't get out...

I was just wondering if other roofs looked like mine. I guess they do.
For what it worth, while at Northwood, Va getting my roof glued back down. I was told the roof for a trailer cost them around a $100. A rv dealer near me want $3000 to replace the roof but everthing on top has got to come off. A lot of labor in replacing.

Pretty much the same as the others. I use spic and span to clean mine. It comes very clean and white yet I have the spots when I am done also. Mine are more greyish rather than black. I have come to ignore them much like everyone else..

I would recommend using spic and span or a little detergent and water. DO NOT USE any type of Solvents or Bleach, these will damage the material. I know the Black is a pain in the caboose, but it is one of the side effects of a great roofing product.
