Cracked sidewall - fix???
Went to storage to run the generator and noticed this under the bedroom slide
This was not there 3-4 weeks ago when I was last there to run the genny and the rig hasn’t been moved...so I wonder 1) how this could happen (water behind there and froze?) and 2) what am I looking at for fixing it? Insurance possible cover it?? Thanks for any info you can share

Just wondering.......
Is there a slide near this crack?
What have the temperatures been for the last few weeks?
Any snow or freezing rain?

IMHO the only thing that can cause that kind of crack is structure related.
What kind of RV are you talking about?

The crack is beneath the bedroom wardrobe slide (fuzion 5th wheel toy hauler). Hasn’t been moved since it went to storage in December. Temps have ranged from highs of 50 to lows of 20’s the past couple of weeks. Crack wasn’t there 3-4 weeks ago...leads me to think water and freezing?
I have no idea where to go next on this...it’s not a seam or a seal...it’s a straight up crack all the way through the fiberglass. I’ve never had an insurance claim, so I’m not even sure if this is something that would be covered (full coverage on the unit of course)

Is it in a place where it could have been bumped? Could have been anywhere in on the trailer. Shock can cause damage away from the point of impact. Maybe you have an insurance claim if thats the case.

Not that I’m aware of. I did a walk around it at the storage lot and didn’t see any damage elsewhere.

What year is your 5er? Is it still under warranty? If not it may still be worth it to at least have a dealer address it with Keystone.

I had a Flagstaff V-Lite that did the same thing over the winter while not in use. This was 8 months after I bought it new. Forest River Flagstaff took it back and said it had to be a structural failure in the aluminum wall frame. They moved my axles back 11 inches and replaced both side walls. Four years later it cracked in the same place again. Forest River fixed it again at no charge. It took time but they were great about fixing it. They blamed the second repair on a bad aluminum weld over the slide-out that should have been a single length of square tube with no weld. All I know is each repair took 6 weeks. I have no complaints about anyone on that camper, I owned it for 7 years. I did go back to a motorhome for travel reasons only.
