Do you use generator while underway?

we have run our onan propane 5500 in our 5th wheel while towing once or twice. the primary reason was to supply 120 volts to the residential refrigerator. but that was some time ago and with our current battery configuration the need to run the generator while towing is no longer there.

what we will do is to start the generator if we stop for an extended time, such as an in restaurant lunch or a roadside attraction. we do this so we can run an air conditioner. we travel with a cat and we move her from the truck to the trailer when we make these stops.

Your right Old-Biscuit, I checked with Onan and they said no problem. They added that the genny will not run if the 5’er is too significantly out of balance.

That is due to Oil Level Trip......

I’ve never understood someone towing a fifth wheel where it’s obvious the front set of wheels are barely touching the road.
