DOMETIC 310 toilet issue

Today I went to do some maintenance, the pedal was squeaking , I removed the pedal applied some silicone lube and put the pedal back on. Now the Closure ball will not function, I tried and tried and finally called Dometic Customer service , I was informed that I broke the toilet and it cannot be repaired, the gentleman said NEVER REMOVE THE FOOT LEVER or you will destroy the whole toilet. It seems when you remove the foot lever a pin and spring disconnect and the whole toilet is trashed.
Has anyone experienced this issue. If this is the case there should be a product warning label indicating DO NOT REMOVE THIS LEVER
Ya, I'm bummin

If what you were told is true why do they sell pedal replacement kits?

Grs, Wish that Kit was for the 310 Toilet. I think it's for the 200 series .

Correct....Pedal Kit is for the 110/210 series

The 310 Pedal is NOT serviceable except for the cover cap

One should check out parts list/service manuals before disassembling if not previously done.

I have 'torn' into things only to find out I shouldn't have. That's on me
MFGs shouldn't have to put labels on everything to prevent unintentional damage by owners.

I think there is a recall on some 310 models, it might be worth a call back to Dometic with your dometic serial number in hand if you can get to it.

Recall has to do with the base to bowl seal leaking allowing urine/waste to get inside the base area

I just bought and installed the Dometic 310 last week. Being somewhat mechanically inclined, removing the pedal and re-installing it baffles me on how that makes it inoperable.
I wonder what exactly happens. Some type of plastic tab shears off, a rod or lever disconnects inside? I guess I'll research this a little more without removing the pedal.

I tried to replace our old Tetford toilet with a Dometic 320. That was the biggest piece of junk I have seen. I wound up buying the parts to repair the old toilet and managed to get the dealer to take back the Dometic.

I would just as soon have a bucket and lid than a Dometic 300 series toilet.

My 320 says on the pedal, to not remove it. Good thing because I was about to remove it. l
